LXRP releases final design for new open space and decking

4 May 2023

The Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) has responded to the requests of Council and the community with the new Union Road bridge and open space.

To help guide the LXRP’s design of this new open space, we consulted with our community in 2021 to find out what was important. Feedback helped shape our Urban Design Advice document which was used to advocate to the LXRP.

We are pleased to see that the final design for the open space and landscaping includes what our community asked for.

Key features include:

  • accessible and well-designed areas for the whole community to meet and socialise
  • trees and green areas
  • a space to host events like the Surrey Hills music festival
  • a public toilet

We look forward to this fantastic new space being delivered for our community to use into the future.

The LXRP will continue to build the new open spaces throughout 2023, after they complete their major construction blitz in late-May.
