Members of Youth Voice get to advocate for and work on different projects for young people in Boroondara.

The purpose of the group is to ensure that young people in Boroondara are heard and valued. It also provides opportunities to develop leadership skills and take part in community and civic events.


As a Youth Voice member, you’ll:

  • Grow your leadership skills

  • Represent young voices in the community

  • Influence projects and events for young people


What's involved

The group will meet fortnightly on Wednesdays, from February to December 2026 during school term.

Throughout the year, you’ll work on various projects and initiatives for young people in Boroondara.

Past members have had the opportunity to:

  • attend Council meetings
  • meet and greet members of Council’s executive team, Mayor and councillors
  • participate in consultations with Council departments to provide a young person’s perspective, including on topics such as heritage planning, strategic communications and volunteering
  • have their say in the Boroondara Community Plan consultations, helping to shape the future of Boroondara by sharing what’s most important to them and other young people
  • undertake training opportunities facilitated by the Y.
