Background

From 5 August to 23 August 2024, we consulted our community on the proposed introduction of the on-street parking restrictions along Wellington Street, between Edgevale Road and Malin Street, Kew.

We invited residents, property owners and people who are eligible for a residential parking permit to participate in this consultation. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the proposed changes.

What we asked

We asked for your feedback on the proposal to introduce two-hour parking along the south side of the street, which applied between 8 am and 6 pm Monday to Friday.

Changes to parking restrictions are made if:

  • we receive feedback from at least 10% of people invited to share their feedback, and
  • 55% support the proposed changes.

What we heard

We received responses from a sufficient number of eligible community members.

  • 63% supported introducing the '2P, 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday' parking restrictions.
  • 37% opposed introducing the '2P, 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday' parking restrictions.

In accordance with our Parking Management Policy, we will change the parking restrictions only if 55% or more of all eligible responses support the proposed changes.

What happens next

As the proposed changes are supported by at least 55% of participants, the proposed '2P, 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday' zone along the south side of Wellington Street, between Edgevale Road and Malin Street, will be introduced in mid September.

Vehicles with a valid residential parking permit are exempt from parking restrictions in this area. To find out if you’re eligible for a permit and how to apply, visit our Residential parking permits page.
