Background
From 12 December 2024 to 13 January 2025, we consulted our community on proposed changes to on-street parking along Tooronga Road between Constance Street and Anderson Road in Hawthorn East.
We invited residents and property owners to participate in this consultation. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the proposed changes.
What we asked
We asked for your feedback on the proposal to introduce ‘2P (2 hour), 8am-6pm, Mon-Fri’ parking restrictions replacing the unrestricted parking on the east side of the street.
Changes to parking restrictions are made if:
- we receive feedback from at least 10% of people invited to share their feedback, and
- 55% support the proposed changes.
What we heard
We received responses from a sufficient number of eligible community members.
- 30% supported the proposal
- 70% opposed the proposal
What happens next
In accordance with the Council’s Parking Management Policy 2017 and Parking Management Procedures 2017, which require 55% support to implement any proposed parking change, an insufficient level of support was received. As the proposed changes are not supported by at least 55% of participants, there will be no change to the existing parking restrictions.
