From 8 May to 27 May 2024, we consulted our community on proposed changes to on-street parking along Tooronga Road, between Invermay Grove and Pleasant Road, in Hawthorn East. We invited residents, property owners and people who are eligible for a residential parking permit to participate in this consultation. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the proposed changes.


What we asked

We asked for your feedback on the proposal to change the 10 unrestricted parking spaces to one-hour parking, between 8 am and 5.30 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am to 12 noon Saturday].

Changes to parking restrictions are made if:

  • we receive feedback from at least 10% of people invited to share their feedback, and
  • 55% support the proposed changes.

    We received responses from eligible community members.

  • 33% supported the proposed changes
  • 67% opposed the proposed changes.


    • Current parking restrictions

    The current parking restrictions for this section of Tooronga Road are:

  • Unrestricted.
  • 1P, 8 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am to 12 noon Saturday.


    • Proposed changes

    We proposed to change the unrestricted parking to:

  • 1P, 8 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am to 12 noon Saturday.
    All spaces within this section of Tooronga Road will therefore have a one-hour parking restriction across these periods.


    • What happens next

    As the proposed changes are not supported by at least 55% of participants, there will be no change to parking restrictions.
