Background
From 12 December 2024 to 13 January 2025, we consulted our community on proposed changes to on-street parking along Edlington Street in Hawthorn East.
We invited residents and property owners to participate in this consultation. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the proposed changes.
What we asked
We asked for your feedback on the proposal to extend the ‘Permit Zone’ operation times from ‘8am-6pm, Mon-Fri’ to ‘Mon-Fri’ (24 hours) on the north side of the street.
Changes to parking restrictions are made if:
- we receive feedback from at least 10% of people invited to share their feedback, and
- 55% support the proposed changes.
What we heard
We received responses from a sufficient number of eligible community members.
- 60% supported the proposal
- 40% opposed the proposal
In accordance with our Parking Management Policy, we will change the parking restrictions if 55% or more of all eligible responses show support for the proposed changes.
What happens next
As the proposed changes are supported by at least 55% of participants, we will extend the ‘Permit Zone’ operation times from ‘8am-6pm, Mon-Fri’ to ‘Mon-Fri’ (24 hours) on the north side of the street. This will occur by the first week of March 2025.
