About this consultation

From 6 June to 24 June 2024, we consulted our community on the proposed removal of the on-street parking restrictions originally installed along Ashburn Grove, Ashburton for the period of the Markham development construction. These were Permit Zone between No. 69 and No. 101 (east side) and 2-hour (2P) parking between No. 90 and No. 102 (west side),

We invited residents, property owners and people who are eligible for a residential parking permit to participate in this consultation. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the proposed changes.

What we asked

We asked for your feedback on the proposal to remove the Permit Zone parking on the east side applying from 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturday and the 2-hour (2P) parking on the west side applying from 7 am and 6 pm Monday to Saturday.

Changes to parking restrictions are made if:

  • we receive feedback from at least 10% of people invited to share their feedback, and
  • 55% support the proposed changes.

What we heard

We received responses from a suffficent number of eligible community members.

  • 36% supported removing the Permit Zone and 2-hour (2P) restrictions
  • 64% opposed removing the Permit Zone and 2-hour (2P) restrictions.

In accordance with our Parking Management Policy, we will change the parking restrictions if 55% or more of all eligible responses show support for the proposed changes.

Current parking restrictions

The restrictions are as follows:

  • Permit Zone, 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturday (east side of Ashburn Grove between No. 69 and No. 101)
  • 2P (two-hour), 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturday (west side of Ashburn Grove between No. 90 and No. 102)

What happens next

As the proposed changes are not supported by at least 55% of participants, there will be no change to the existing parking restrictions. The times that these parking restrictions now apply will remain.

Vehicles with a valid residential parking permit are exempt from the parking restrictions. To find out if you’re eligible for a permit and how to apply, visit www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/parking-streets or phone 9278 4444.
