About this consultation
Community members have contacted Council about parking along May Street, between Fitzwilliam Street and Wellington Street in Kew.
Council staff have visited the street repeatedly during weekday business hours to count parking space use. We saw high usage, with at least some of the parking being by non-residents. At other times, parking demands by non-residents is considered to be low and therefore parking restrictions at these times, is not justified.
We now invite your feedback on proposed changes to parking restrictions.
The proposed changes to parking restrictions are in line with our:
Current parking restrictions
There are currently no parking restrictions along May Street, Kew.
Proposed changes
We are proposing to introduce, along the west side (odd-numbered properties), the following parking restriction:
2P (2-hour), 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday. The east side (even-numbered properties) will remain unrestricted.
Vehicles with a valid residential parking permit are and will be exempt from parking restrictions. The west side is proposed as it has more parking spaces, meaning residents with a permit will have more opportunities to park.
To find out if you’re eligible for a permit and how to apply, visit our Residential parking permits page.
