Playground draft design
Update – 22 May 2025
We've drafted a design for the new playground at Mont Albert Park. The design was shaped by ideas you shared during the first round of community consultation.
Thank you for your feedback
We'd like to thank everyone who provided feedback on the draft design to see if the design was on the right track. Feedback submissions closed 5 pm on Thursday 22 May 2025.
What's next?
We’ll now consider all the suggestions and feedback shared by the community from the second stage of consultation.

- an arch climber with ladders, nets and rock climbing
- a café play area with wheelchair accessibility
- rubber surfaces to improve accessibility.
Some park furniture will be upgraded, including:

Some ideas suggested for the new playground are not included in the design, such as:
- fencing

- trampoline
- public toilets
- water play.
Mont Albert Park is a local playground in our Playground
Development Strategy. The playground's category decides the budget, design
focus and scope of its upgrade. Read more about this on our Upgrading Boroondara’s playgrounds page.
Stage 1 of consultation
A snapshot of your feedback:
In November and December 2024, we asked you to tell us:
- what you love about this playground
- what could be improved
- what you’d like to see in the new playground.
We heard from 18 community members through surveys and
submissions.
- 69% were female
- 93% were parents or guardians
- 50% lived in Balwyn – the suburb of the playground.
What you told us
- The monkey bars and track glide are the most popular play items. We’ve made sure these are included in the draft design.
- Our community would like a wider variety of play equipment.
- Residents value the variety of play options for younger and older children.
