Thank you for providing feedback on the draft vision for Kew Library

21 December 2023

In September 2023, we invited community feedback on the draft vision for the Kew Library redevelopment. Thank you to the 271 people who had their say by completing a survey or attending a drop-in session.

The vision was informed by community consultation in 2017, where we asked people to tell us about their aspirations for Kew Library. People told us they wanted a library that:

  • is welcoming and accessible
  • has quiet and peaceful spaces, as well as active and social spaces for activities and meeting people
  • is light, comfortable and sustainable
  • is an iconic building that celebrates heritage
  • connects indoor and outdoor spaces, taking advantage of its location next to Alexandra Gardens and Petrie Square
  • has flexible spaces that can adapt over time as community needs change.

The feedback we received in the latest consultation period was that these 7 aspirations, explored with the community in both 2017 and 2023, are still important considerations for a redeveloped Kew library.

The draft vision, along with the feedback we heard during community consultation, will be presented to Councillors for consideration at a Council meeting in early-2024.

We will share the details of the meeting on the Kew Library redevelopment page once the agenda is released.
