We’ve drafted our next Climate Action Plan Implementation Plan 2025/26 – 2026/27

11 June 2025

We’ve drafted an exciting new set of climate actions to help both Council and community members meet our emissions targets. This builds on the actions we delivered during the first 4 years of our Climate Action Plan (CAP), with highlights including:

  • installation of 4 fast electric vehicle chargers for the community
  • installation of solar panels on over 40 Council buildings
  • purchase of green electricity for all Council sites
  • adoption of Tree Canopy and Urban Biodiversity strategies
  • over 12,000 participants at sustainability education sessions
  • delivery of the Sustainable Living Festival
  • development of a partnership with Electrify Boroondara.

Our next Implementation Plan represents a significant increase in our commitment to action on climate change. It recognises the critical importance of reducing community emissions and the opportunity for Council to partner with our community to achieve this. Its development has been informed by:

  • consultation undertaken in the development of the CAP in 2020/21
  • engagement with the Climate Action Plan Advisory Committee
  • engagement with internal departments
  • broad community consultation from December 2024.

We’re presenting the draft Implementation Plan to councillors for adoption at the Services Delegated Committee (SDC) meeting on Monday 16 June 2025 from 6:30 pm. Visit our Services Delegated Committee Meeting – 16 June 2025 page to:
